Update: Jasper has moved on to a new home in Meadow Creek. She lives on a huge acreage with her own herd of sheep to boss around and a little girl who is brave and loving enough to ride her! Jasper taught me a lot about horses with big personality. I inadvertently taught her how to rear when trying to teach her the ‘send’ on the circling game. We fixed that up, but it sure taught me when NOT to quit! Miss that mini monster, but glad she’s happy and now I have more time for my other two.
A miniature mare with a super-sized horsenality, LBE Jasper hasn’t been played with much, but what she has had lately has been quality play time. We’re currently playing in Level 2 on the ground and I hope to learn about driving with her one day. She’s flashy, spectacular and usually protests BIG time once she figures out what it is you want her to do but isn’t willing to do it, yet. Rearing, bucking, kicking, capriole, levade… oh yes, she’s talented! It’s no wonder I call her the “Wee White Shite” and think of her as having a high pitched scottish accent. She’s probably the most “cowy” of all my horses, chasing dogs, chickens and other horses with a defiant toss of her head and her ears pinned. She notices things that are far away first and alerts the rest of the herd, she lets me know when the water is low or I haven’t fed them when she was expecting with a high pitched whinney.
Update: Jasper is learning so quickly, we introduced the Pedestal last week and she put all four feet on it with confidence this week. Jumping was introduced 2 weeks ago and she jumped the whole jump arena course – including oxers – with barely a hesitation. We’ve done some friendly with the hose due to a leg injury and she’s accepting the hose on her legs and body – something I knew I’d need a high level of Savvy to get done after I tried the first time a few years ago. Her “stick to me” is coming along, as are circles and the patterns. We are definitely working through Level 2 on the ground and into Level 3 in some areas.
She’s lovely and looks like you need more savvy with her than anyone else!
I did my Shetland Ruby’s horsenality today only to discover that in a middle of the road kind of way she is tri-polar! going to be so much fun and such a huge learning experience!
Glad to see someone else that is having fun with a wee tottie one!

It’s true, she does seem to require more Savvy than my other two, though I’ll have to have some concentrated playtime with Baily before I’m sure. It is absolutely a hoot to play with her, though.
Guess what! We have that “Little White Shite”. We bought her from Audrey in Meadow Creek a year ago. Your description of her fits to a tee!
Jasper’s name was Tinker Bell when we got her. we call her Stinker. She is great company for our other mare Reba. We love her.
Thanks for her background info.

That’s great news! She’s an awesome, feisty little thing. I miss her. Love to visit her someday. It was hard to give her up, but I really didn’t do much with her aside from trim her feet, shed out all that winter wool (!!) and love on her. Where does she live, now? I love how she chases dogs like they’re cattle!
Oh, and if you’re ever stuck and need her looked after, I’d be HAPPY to!
